Grants

Southwestern Bell Foundation granted $20,000 to purchase and install a DANTE web server, subsidize teacher workshops and the development of an online course, and provide startup money for a multimedia resource center at the University of Dallas.

Wells Fargo Bank granted $20,000 to purchase a portable multimedia workstation, support DANTE workshops and outreach, and compensate teachers for publishing curriculum projects on the DANTE website.

*The Dallas Area Network for Teaching and Education (DANTE) is a pilot project at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas, headed by Barbara Khirallah, a faculty member in the Department of Education. The mission of DANTE is to build a community of practice both on campus and online where teachers can revitalize their own learning and teaching by re-conceiving knowledge of subject matter in "new" classrooms equipped with the tools of the twenty-first century.
