The Argo

The ship used by the Argonauts on their heroic voyage for the golden fleece.  It was named after the ship's creator, Argus.  The Argo was a fifty-oared ship, which had the amazing ability to speak.  This was because Athena fitted the prow with a beam of oak from Dodona, where there was an oracle of Zeus.  At this oracle, priests would interpret the "talking" of the oaks, as the wind whistled through their leaves.
