Heraclids

The many, many children of Heracles.

After the death of Heracles, Eurystheus attempted to kill all of them, since he feared that they would seek revenge for his treatment of their father.  The Heraclids fled to Athens, and there they sought the protections of Theseus.  When Eurystheus and his army attacked the Heraclids and Athenians, Eurystheus was killed and his army beaten.

Eventually, after several failed attempts, the Heraclids succeeded in attacking and conquering the whole of the Peloponnesus.
