Perseus

The king of Tiryns.  For the heroic tale of how he became king, click here.

During his reign over Tiryns, he was responsible for building the cities of Mycenae and Midea.

His wife was Andromeda, who bore him many sons.  Among the more notable are:

• Perses, who became the next king of Ethiopia after Cepheus.

• Alcaeus, the father of Amphitryon

• Electryon, who became the next king of Tiryns and Mycenae.  He was accidentally killed by Amphitryon.

• Stheneleus, who became the new king after the death of Electryon and banished Amphitryon.
