Lars Porsena

A king of Clusium, the most powerful of the Etruscan cities.  In 506 BC, at the urging of his fellow king Tarquinius Superbus, he attacked and laid siege to Rome.  It was during this war that some of Rome's greatest heroes emerged.  Horatius Cocles prevented the capture of Rome.  Mucius Scaevola convinced him to give up the siege.  Cloelia's courage prevented the taking of a large number of hostages in order for there to be peace.
