Acanius is the son of Aeneas and Creusa. He is also known as Iulus. He is the mythical ancestor of the Julian family
When his father Aeneas fled from the burning Troy, Ascanius was only a young child. By the time of their arrival in Italy, Acanius had grown to manhood. In the battle against Turnus and the Rutulians, Ascanius was old enough to fight, and fight very well. After the war, Ascanius did not remain in his father's city, but found his own city, Alba Longa.
