Ancus Marcius

Ancus Marcius was the fourth king of Rome.  He ruled from 641-616 BC.  He was the most well-rounded of them, being both religious like his grandfather Numa and a capable general like his predecessor Tullus Hostilius.

During his reign, several of the surrounding Latin towns were assimilated by Rome.  Perhaps his greatest achievement during his reign was the building of Ostia, Rome's port on the Mediterranean sea.
