Pontifex Maximus

A position created by Numa, the Pontifex Maximus was in charge of overseeing the other pontifices, the priests of Rome, as well as the Vestal Virgins.  The Pontifex Maximus had in his possessions written instructions on how to perform each of the sacred duties of Rome
