Collatinus

Lucius Tarquinius Collatinus

The husband of Lucretia, who was raped by his cousin Sextus Tarquin.  Having promised to revenge his wife, he and his cousin Brutus overthrew Tarquinius Superbus and established the Republic

Along with Brutus, he was elected one of the first two consuls of Rome.  Soon after, however, he was pressured to resign by the people of Rome, for they mistrusted any member of the Tarquin family.  Collatinus voluntarily went into exile at Lavinium.
