Numitor

A descendant of Aeneas, Numitor was the rightful heir to the throne of Alba Longa, founded by Ascanius.  He was deposed, however, by his younger brother Amulius.  Numitor's sons were killed by his brother, and his daughter Rhea Silvia was made a Vestal Virgin.  Nevertheless, she gave birth to twins, Romulus and Remus.  After Amulius was killed by Romulus, Numitor was restored to the throne.
