A principal Trojan character in the Iliad, Antenor is Dardanian, and one of Priam's wisest advisors during the Trojan War.  Before the war, when Odysseus and Menelaus come before Priam to demand Helen and the Spartan gold be returned, Antenor prevents the hot-headed young princes from killing the two Greeks.

During the tenth year of the war, Antenor advised Priam to return Helen and the gold to the Greeks.  Priam, unfortunately, listened to his son Paris.
