Text: Growing in Christian Morality and Catechism of the Catholic Church
Due today: Reading assignment from Catechism (Paragraph # 1846-1876). *Optional – Chapter 3 in Growing in Christian Morality.
Objectives:
Students will be
able to:
1. Distinguish between Mortal and Venial sin.
2. Distinguish between guilt and shame.
3. List and define several different sins resulting from the misordered use of sexuality.
4. Articulate the ends of sin and of several specific sins.
5. Employ the church’s teaching on morality when contemplating a moral decision.
6. Develop listening and group participation skills.
7. Think holistically about the nature of sin and of particular sins.

sin and remind the students to consider their project as the class

Teacher breaks up class into groups of 3 or 4. Each group writes down on a sheet of paper
as many mortal and venial sins as they can think of. |

Teacher will place piece of pie on mortal sin and piece of pie on venial sin on the
board. Each group will name the sins
they have listed out loud and teacher will add them to the appropriate piece
of the pie. Discussion and correction
of misplaced sins will be discussed. |

Teacher will discuss the difference between mortal and
venial sin and the necessary requirements |
